Chicken Coriander Curry

It is an awesome name for an amazing recipe. Here is what you need for preparing the Chicken Coriander Curry. Chicken Coriander Curry is an innovative dish that can be made easily. It is a typical south Indian non vegetarian recipe. Chicken Coriander Curry is a healthy dish as it has peppercorn and cilantro (Coriander) as its main ingredients. Using pepper for spiciness rather than chili is good for health.

Ingredients required for the Chicken Coriander Curry

Chicken – 1 kg
Oil – 2 Tbsp


Whole Black Peppercorn – 1 Tsp (or to taste)
Onion – 500 g (Chopped to bigger size)
Green chilies – 5 No.
Ginger – 2 Inch piece
Garlic – 5 large cloves
Soy Sauce - 1 Tbsp
Vinegar – 1 Tbsp
Cilantro (Coriander Leaves) – 1 Bunch
Cinnamon Stick – 1 Inch piece
Bay Leaf – 1 No.
Black Cardamom – 1 No.
Salt – To taste

Preparation procedure for the Chicken Coriander Curry

Take oil in a pan and heat it up on medium heat. Actually it is slightly higher than the medium (Between high and medium).

After the oil heats well, add the peppercorns and let it to fry. If you don’t need it spicy, you can put optionally less. Even a little pepper will give a lot of spiciness and flavor.
Once the peppercorns fry, add the onions to it. Then mix them well. The onions can be cut into larger pieces because we are going to grate it later on. Let it to cook for about 2 or 3 minutes.
After the onions have been cooked for about 2 to 3 minutes, add the ginger and garlic pieces as well as the green chilies.

Now cook it in a closed pan until it picks up a little bit of color. Be stirring it in the mean while. After the ingredients fry well, turn off the stove and let it to cool.

Once the ingredients cool completely, put them into mixer jar. Along with the fried ingredients, add the cleaned cilantro (coriander), Soy Sauce and Vinegar into the mixer jar. Now grind them into a fine paste.
Then take oil in a pan and heat it up on medium heat. After the oil heats up, add Cinnamon Stick, Bay Leaf and Black Cardamom to it.

Once it fries, add the grated masala and salt into the pan. Also add the chicken that is cut into medium sized cubes.
Finally let it to cook in a closed pan for about 15 minutes. Or you can also put them into pressure cooker and let 3 whistles to come. But using a pan is advisable as you can stir it now and then.
That’s all for the cooking of the Chicken Coriander Curry. No more garnishing is required as the dish already has all the contents that give good flavor and taste.
