How to prepare Dosa/ Idly Podi with Garlic (Puundu)

Ingredients required for preparing Dosa/ Idly Podi with Garlic (Puundu)

Urad Dal - 2 Cups

Dry Red Chilies - 6 Pieces

Garlic - 1 Cup

Asafetida – 1 Spoon

Salt - To Taste


Preparation procedure for Dosa/ Idly podi with Garlic (Puundu)

First take an empty pan and fry urad dal till it turns crispy. The shade of the urad dal should turn to golden brown. Then put the urad dal in a wide open plate and let it to cool for some time.

Now put the red chilies and fry it till it becomes crispier. Then transfer this chilies also in a wide open plate and let it to cool for a little while.

Afterwards take the garlic in that pan and add few drops of oil to it. Now fry it till it turns to golden brown.

Finally put all the ingredients (fried Urad dal, Red chilies, garlic, asafetida and salt) into a mixer jar and grind it into fine powder.

That’s all, Dosa/ Idly podi with Garlic (Puundu) is ready. You can store it in an air tight container and serve it with dosa or idly.
