Today evening I felt like eating something sweet during snack time. Thought of making this Deep Fried Sweet Appam. It is an easy sweet snack recipe for evening time. It may around 15 minutes for the preparation and setting time. And only 5 to 10 minutes for cooking. Deep fried Sweet Appam Recipe with egg is a simple recipe.
Serving - 4 persons
Maida - 1 Cup (100 grams)
Rava - 1 Cup (100 grams)
Sugar - 1 Cup (100 grams)
Cardamom Powder - 1 pinch
Egg white - from 1 egg
Ripe Banana (Instead of Egg for vegetarians) - 1 full
Salt - 1 pinch
Take a bowl and add maida flour, Rava, sugar, cardamom powder and mix required amount of water to make it as a thick paste.
To this add a pinch of salt and mix along with it. We are adding salt just to enhance the sweetness of the Sweet Appam. So do not add more than a pinch.
Now add one egg white to this mixture and blend all the ingredients completely.
After mixing all these ingredients set it aside for 10 to 15 minutes.
Meanwhile you can be ready with the oil for frying.
Take a pan and add enough oil for deep frying the Sweet Appam.
Keep the pan in a medium flame and heat the oil as much as required. Once the oil is hot enough and when the appam mixture is all set for frying you can start dropping small balls with the help of a spoon or a small laddle.
Let the sweet appam to fry on one side and then turn it into the other side. Let the flame to be in sim when you feel that the temperature of the oil increases. You can turn it back to medium flame again after you have removed this set of appam and dropped the next set into the oil. By doing this way the heat will not affect your hands while dropping and the appam will also cook evenly until the inner layer.
One set will be enough to serve for a person. So you may need to make 4 sets of Sweet Appam with the quantity taken. My pan makes it with 4 sets. May be your pan is smaller or larger than mine. So accordingly number of sets you will have to fry may vary.
Since this Deep Fried Sweet Appam Recipe with Egg is a sweet dish it will not require any side dish. You can serve it as it is or with any other spicy snack and coffee or tea.
