How to make Sugar Candy Rice (Kal Kandu Sadam)

A festival or a function party must always start with a sweet. When you wish to make sweets, you may think that you would require some rare ingredients to prepare it. But sugar candy rice (Kal Kandu Sadam) is a very simple recipe that can be made with some basic ingredients that are easily available. The preparation procedure of Sugar Candy Rice (Kal Kandu Sadam) is also not very tedious. It is also not very much time consuming as most of the other sweets. First let us know the ingredients required to prepare the Sugar Candy Rice (Kal Kandu Sadam). There are only three main ingredients required to prepare this dish. Along with those, garnishing ingredients are the only other ingredients to be included.

Ghee 50 gm
Cardamon 5
Cashew Nut 5
Raisins (Kismis) 5
Milk 1/2 ltr
Saffron Few Pinches
Sugar Candy 50 gm
Rice 1/4 kg

Sugar Candy Rice (Kal Kandu Sadam) Preparation Procedure

  1. Take a vessel and add 2 teaspoon of ghee to it. When the ghee is melted add the crushed cardamon, cashew nuts and raisins in it. Let these ingredients to fry until it turns golden brown color.
  2. Then add milk to it and heat well. Note that the milk that is added has to be well boiled before it is used for making this sweet.
  3. After the milk boils, you can add the sugar candy (Kal Kandu) in it. After that blend it completely.
  4. Next add the cooked rice in it and saute it well until you get the consistency as seen in the picture.
  5. Now the Sugar Candy Rice (Kal Kandu Sadam) is ready. You can serve it hot. Children usually love to have sweets and so this Sugar Candy Rice (Kal Kandu Sadam) will attract all the kids gathered in your party.
