How to cook Dried Chickpeas (Kondai Kadalai) without soaking

Add the rinsed dry Chickpeas (Kondai Kadalai) in the vessel that contains required amount of water. All beans should get immersed in the water.

Keep the flame high and the vessel closed with a lid and cook until it comes to boiling.

Froth will be formed on the top layer once the dried Chickpeas (Kondai Kadalai) and water mixture starts to boil. Use a ladle to remove the froth.

Now turn the flame to sim and cook the dried Chickpeas (Kondai Kadalai).

Put the cleaned dried Chickpeas (Kondai Kadalai) without soaking in the inner layer vessel and pour water.

See that the water level is at-least double the level of chickpeas and not more than half of the vessel.

Set the cooker on high indication and cook it for 4 hours or set the cooker on low indication and cook it for 6 to 8 hours.

Things necessary for cooking dried Chickpeas (Kondai Kadalai) without soaking on a stove with a pressure cooker includes a pressure cooker, its cascade, its weight/ whistler and necessary amount of water.

Put the cleaned dried Chickpeas (Kondai Kadalai) without soaking in the pressure cooker and add twice the amount of water to it.

Also add a teaspoon of oil to it. This will avoid frothing or let it to deposit on the side walls of pressure cooking. Adding oil will also avoid affecting the pressure wall.

Keep it in high flame and let it to give a whistle,

Then lower the flame to medium and wait for at-least half an hour. Shut off the flame and wait for the pressure to subside.

Once the pressure has subsided check for the tenderness. If the dried Chickpeas (Kondai Kadalai) is not tender enough, close the pressure cooker again and cook for further 15 minutes in slow flame.

Things necessary for cooking dried Chickpeas (Kondai Kadalai) without soaking in an oven will be a big and strong microwavable vessel with a tight lid.

Add Chickpeas (Kondai Kadalai) and enough water. Close the vessel very well.

Now set the cooking temperature at 375 degree Fahrenheit and cooking time as 75 minutes.

After the process is done if the Chickpeas is not tender enough keep it for further 15 minutes and it will be done.
