Ingredients needed for Tamil Nadu's Temple Prasadam Special Appam
Usually people think that a appam is made with Maida flour as a major content in it. But this Tamil Nadu's Temple Prasadam Special Appam has 0% Maida in it. It is made with fibrous wheat flour that is healthy.
Wheat Flour 1 Cup
Rice Flour - 1/2 Cup
Cashew - 10 Pieces
Cardamom powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
Oil - 1 Tbsp
Jaggery - 2 Cups
Salt - a pinch
Tamil Nadu's Temple Prasadam Special Appam Preparation Procedure
Powder the Jaggery to a fine powder.
Mix the wheat flour and rice flour together.
Put a pinch of salt to the powder mixture.
Add Jaggery powder also with that flour mixture and mix it like a thick paste with required amount of water.
Add 10 cashew nuts coarsely broken.
Also add the cardamom powder with this.
Now mix all the ingredients and the batter/ paste for appam is ready.
Take a pan and add enough oil for deep frying. Heat the oil for frying the appam.
Then take scoops of appam batter/ paste and pour into oil.
Wait until the appam fries in one side.
After sometime turn the appam to the other side and further fry for few minutes.
You need not fry the appams one by one. You can pour as many appams as your pan can contain.
If you are frying these appams for a Temple prasadam, then you may need more number of appams. In that case take bigger sized pan.
