Ingredients that necessitate Black Eyed Pea and Groundnut Curry Recipe
As it is specified in the name of the recipe, essential ingredients that will be required for preparing this dish will be Black Eyed Pea, Groundnut and white Sesame Seeds. Note the quantity of these ingredients that is required for preparing this recipe is mentioned below. Also the other basic ingredients that a curry recipe must have is also listed along with it.
(White Sesame Seeds, Poppy Seeds, Cumin Seeds and Coconut) ground like a powder without adding water to it.
Sesame Seeds - 1 Tsp
Poppy Seeds - 1 Tsp
Cumin Seeds - 1 Tbsp
Coconut - Half Shell
Black Eyed Pea - 1 Cup
Groundnut - 1/4 Cup
Oil - 2 Tbsp
Onion - 1/2 Cup
Green Chili - 2 or 3 Pieces
Tomato - 2 Medium Sized
Salt - To Taste
Water for cooking
Asafoetida - a Pinch
Black Eyed Pea and Groundnut Curry Recipe Cooking method with step by step procedure
First put the black eyed pea in a cooker and add enough water to it and also add some amount of salt with it. Let it to cook for a whistle and let the pressure to subside.
In meanwhile you can prepare the curry for this dish.
For this take a pan and add oil to it. Let the oil to heat and then put onion in it.
Fry the onion until it turns to golden brown color and then add the green chilies with it.
Then add chopped tomatoes with this. See that you use hybrid variety tomatoes so that the dish does not mess out with sogginess.
Then put the groundnut that you have fried and de-skinned already. Fry all these ingredients for few seconds and then add some water with this and let it to cook for sometime.
In this gap you can grind the powder in a mixer jar. For this take a mixer jar and add White Sesame Seeds, Poppy Seeds, Cumin Seeds and Coconut to it. Now grind it into fine powder without adding water to it.
Let the curry to thicken up well and then add the Black Eyed Pea that you have already boiled with this curry.
Finally add the ground powder into this and saute few times.
Now hot Black Eyed Pea and Groundnut Curry is ready to be served with any main courses like rice or tiffins that includes Dosa, Chapathi, Fulka, Roti or even Naans.
