Custard Apple Kheer

Today we are going to see the recipes with ingredients that have high medicinal values. The ingredient that we have used in this recipe has the marvelous qualities that will prevent us from cancer.

Now we are going to see what the recipe for today is. It is a quick and a tasty dish. It is a dish with Custard Apple. You might have known the proverb, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away”. Same way Custard Apple has the similar properties of high medicinal values. While choosing the fruit for our dish, see that it is either not unripe or not too ripened. After choosing the Custard Apple at its right ripeness you can go with the recipe preparation processes.



First what you will have to do is, take away the flesh part of the fruit by leaving away its shell and seeds part. The shell part will be like segments. You can take it off by pulling or plucking them one by one. After removing the shell and the stem part of the fruit, only the flesh and the seeds part will remain. Now it is very much easy for you to separate this flesh and seeds. All you have to do is nothing other than using a mixy and mashing them in a whippier. If required you can add little water to it while whipping.


Ingredients required for preparing Custard Apple Kheer

Custard Apple Flesh – 1 Cup

Boiled Milk – 1 Cup

Jaggery (liquidated) – ½ Cup

Cardamom Powder – 2 Pinches

Ghee – 1 Tea spoon

Cashew Flakes- 1 Tea spoon

Almond/ Badam Flakes- 1 Tea spoon


Custard Apple Kheer preparation procedure

First take a deep thick bottom pan and add a spoon of ghee to it. Let it to melt in medium flame.

Once the ghee gets melted, add the flesh of the custard apple that is already kept ready. Custard Apple Kheer can be prepared very quickly. The taste of the Custard Apple Kheer will be mind blowing.

Let it to cook for some time and then add the liquidated jagger to it. As the Custard apple has the sweet taste already, you need not add much sweet as an addition to it. So add jaggery liquid only as much as you require. If you think that the sweetness of the fruit is more than enough then let it as it is. Those who have diabetes can avoid adding additional sweetener to it. I usual do only without any sweetener.

Now add the boiled milk to it. Kheer is not a massive or time consuming dish. A tasty dish can be made very simply and this Custard Apple Kheer is a good example for it.

After adding milk you will have to wait for it to boil slightly. After the ingredients start boiling you can shut out the flame and transfer it to a serving bowl and garnish it with Cashew and Almond/ Badam flakes as toppings.

Botanical Class:  Annonaceae

Medicinal Contents: Niacin, Vitamin A and C, Potassium, Magnesium, Copper

Medicinal Significance:

                It is very good for Asthma patients. Generally it is said that those who have cold should not eat fruits. It is not like that. Custard Apple is a fruit that Asthma patients can eat. After eating a Custard Apple you have to drink a tumbler of water. Doing so will give you a good relief. The Niacin that is present in Custard Apple helps in separating good and bad cholesterol. And it also removes bad cholesterol from your body. As it reduces our cholesterol, Custard Apple also helps in regulating our blood pressure. Vitamin A helps in maintaining good health of our skin, hair and eyes. Vitamin C is a good anti oxidant and therefore as this Custard Apple has Vitamin C in it, they brawl the free radicals that is available in our body. Custard Apple is good for our heart as it has Potassium and Magnesium. It will help us in keeping away from cardiac ailment. Also it is a good treatment for indigestion problem. The copper content that is available in this Custard Apple will help in avoiding constipation and resolves you from the illness like diarrhea and dysentery.
