How to make Cluster Beans

Ingredients to make Cluster Beans:

500 gms cluster beans

1 big onion (chopped)

½ tsp turmeric powder

1 tsp chili powder

½ tsp curry powder

1 tsp mustard seeds

2 dry red chillies

Curry leaves (optional, I have not put in my recipe)

1 tbsp grated coconut (optional, I have not put in my recipe)

Salt to taste

2 tbsps vegetable oil

How to make Cluster Bean - Simple Dry Recipe:

Cut and throw the ends of the cluster beans. Chop the beans into small pieces as shown in the picture. Heat oil in a non-stick pan and add mustard seeds. When it splutters, put dry red chilli and curry leaves, if using. Add onions and saute it well till the onions become soft and translucent. Then add the chopped cluster beans. Put turmeric powder, chili powder, curry powder and salt.

Pour little water in the pan so that the beans will get cooked. Don’t put too much water or else the beans will get mushy and its nutrients will also reduce. Close the pan with the lid and cook till the cluster beans get cooked properly. Keep stirring in intervals so that it doesn’t get burnt. Once it is cooked, you can add grated coconut if you want. This will give richer taste to the recipe but some may not prefer the taste of coconut. Switch off the gas immediately and serve hot with rice or chappathi!
