How to make Crispy Chicken Curry - Tamilnadu style

Here is a spicy dish namely Crispy Chicken Curry made with chicken in Tamilnadu style.

750 gms chicken
3 onions (thinly sliced)
10 pieces garlic clove
Thin piece of ginger
1 big tomato (chopped)
12 cashewnuts
2 tsps chili powder

½ tsp turmeric powder
1 ½ tsp coriander powder
1 tsp garam masala
Salt to taste
Curry leaves

How to make Crispy Chicken Curry:

Make a paste out of the ginger and garlic cloves by crushing them. Grind the cashew nuts into a smooth paste.

Heat oil in a pan and add the thinly sliced onions. Saute it well till almost dark brown. Now put the ginger-garlic paste in it and mix well. Saute till the strong aroma goes away. Add the ground cashew nuts and chopped tomato. Saute till the tomatoes are mashed up and all the ingredients blend together. 

Now put turmeric powder, chili powder and coriander powder. You may have to add more chili powder and coriander powder depending on your taste and the quantity of the curry.

Add salt to your taste and some curry leaves. Put the chicken pieces into the mixture. Close the pan with the lid and let it cook till the chicken is half cooked. Once it is half cooked, open the lid and put garam masala. Again close the lid and let the chicken cook fully. After it is fully cooked, remove from the heat and serve hot!


This dish will taste good with roti’s or even rice. Enjoy!
