How to make Tofu - Methi Ki Sabki - Simple Recipe

Tofu is made by thickening soy milk. It looks similar to cottage cheese (paneer) but contains much lesser calories than paneer and is a bundle house of protein. Tofu, when mixed with methi (fenugreek) leaves, make a very tasty combination especially when eaten with rotis or naan. Here is a simple and easy recipe made with tofu and methi.

How to make Tofu - Methi side dish

Ingredients required to make side dish for Methi:


2 cups tofu (buy the soft type so that it can crumble easily)

1 cup methi (fenugreek) leaves

1 big onion

½ tsp cumin seeds (jeeragam)

¼ tsp turmeric powder

½ tsp chili powder

½ tsp coriander powder

2 tomatoes

2 green chilies

3 tbsps. coriander leaves

4 tsps. vegetable oil

Salt to taste

How to make Tofu - Methi Ki Sabki


Crumble the tofu so that they look like scrambled eggs. Wash, drain and chop the methi leaves thoroughly. Keep the onions, tomatoes, green chilies and coriander leaves chopped beforehand.
Heat oil in a pan and put cumin seeds. When it crackles, add the onions and green chilies. Now sauté well till the onion becomes soft and translucent. Next, add the chopped methi leaves to the pan and mix everything well. Allow this mixture to cook well for few minutes.

Add the chopped tomatoes and cook for 4 minutes till the tomato is mashed well into the mixture. Now add the turmeric powder, chili powder, coriander powder and salt. Let it cook till the spice powders blend well with the onion-tomato mixture. Finally add the crumbled tofu and mix everything well. Cook for 5 minutes and add fresh chopped coriander leaves. Remove the pan from the heat and serve hot!
